Vivaldo Lousada stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Israel Mourato's shot from short distance in the 5th minute. Vivaldo Lousada made a fantastic save in the 8th minute, when Adriano Granja sent off a good shot on target. If Anselmo Paixão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 16 minutes into the game, Anselmo Paixão cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Lourenço Fonseca was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 20th minute, Anselmo Paixão got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Adriano Granja fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vivaldo Lousada having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Israel Mourato in the 24th minute of play forced Barbudo's goalkeeper Vivaldo Lousada to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 24 played minutes Barbudo got a freekick which was hit by Aldo Barcelos. Israel Mourato struck a weak shot in the 26th minute. Vivaldo Lousada didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Salgueiros FC. When Altino Portela fell near the penalty area in the 28th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Barbudo's protests and gave Altino Portela a yellow card for diving instead. In the 28th minute, one of Barbudo:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Barbudo. The referee gave Salgueiros FC a penalty, 30 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Hélder Rangel, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Barbudo's Vivaldo Lousada. 1-1. In the 34th minute, António Brás hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Evandro Soveral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Evandro Soveral came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Barbudo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Evandro Soveral couldn't finish the play. Vivaldo Lousada showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Israel Mourato, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Adriano Granja sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Durval Távora during the 49th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 49th minute, Durval Távora hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Anselmo Paixão made a kick off. If Evandro Soveral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Anselmo Paixão's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lourenço Fonseca was relentless in the 60th minute of the game. Anselmo Paixão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Lourenço Fonseca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Israel Mourato sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Adriano Granja scored 2-1 in the 68th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Vivaldo Lousada, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 72nd match minute, Salgueiros FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adriano Granja to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Barbudo getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Afonso Lousada hit a great ball. Vivaldo Lousada showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Israel Mourato, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. Adriano Granja blasted a shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Vivaldo Lousada having to make a save. After a rather tough play, Barbudo's Josué Loureiro got a free kick in the 98th minute. Barbudo's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
