The audience was convinced that André Gaspar's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Serafim Guerra was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. Claudemiro Távora hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. When the match had gone on for 34 minutes, André Gaspar took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Serafim Guerra to make any attempt to save it. After having played for 38 minutes, Sebastião Abreu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Estarreja FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sebastião Abreu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. André Gaspar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Serafim Guerra tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Basílio Gueifão fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Humberto Araújo having to interfere. Joaquim Alves struck a weak shot in the 56th minute. Serafim Guerra didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Estarreja FC. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ricardo Candeias during the 59th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 59th match minute, Castelão Futebol Clube was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ricardo Candeias to maneuver through the defense. Humberto Araújo was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 75th play minutes Basílio Gueifão shot 1-2, a short shot which went by Humberto Araújo and just under the crossbar into goal. After a defensive mix-up in Castelão Futebol Clube's zone, André Gaspar stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Serafim Guerra came out of the goal and André Gaspar tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If André Gaspar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Castelão Futebol Clube eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
