PineFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gabriel Coelho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Simão Rodrigues sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. PineFC's Sílvio Brás got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Emílio Trindade charged in rather forcefully in the 28th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Emílio Trindade the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 28th minute, Emílio Trindade hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Emílio Trindade fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ademar Antas having to interfere. SC Benfica's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Bruno Monteiro 42 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-1. SC Benfica's Paulo Magalhães got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

The wind increased when Bruno Monteiro made the kick off in the second half. After having played for 52 minutes, Emílio Trindade managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Benfica's supporters crossed their fingers, but Emílio Trindade was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ademar Antas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Simão Rodrigues, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. Gabriel Coelho struck a weak shot in the 58th minute. Ademar Antas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Benfica. With a little luck, PineFC's Ademar Antas got control of the ball when Paulo Magalhães tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in PineFC's zone, Simão Rodrigues stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ademar Antas came out of the goal and Simão Rodrigues tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sílvio Brás sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. SC Benfica's Tiago Gonçalves was substituted for Gabriel Coelho. In the 71st minute, Tomás Medeiros ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Luís Aleixo was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Tiago Gonçalves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ademar Antas having to interfere. If Paulo Magalhães had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 81st minute of the match Cristóvão Cesário shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Luís Aleixo showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomás Medeiros in the 83rd minute of play forced SC Benfica's goalkeeper Luís Aleixo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ademar Antas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tiago Gonçalves in the 88th minute of the match. In the 88th minute Tiago Gonçalves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ademar Antas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match had been going on for 90 minutes, SC Benfica's Raul Antunes got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Ademar Antas. In the 95th minute, Nivaldo Faria hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. SC Benfica's Luís Aleixo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomás Medeiros in the 98th minute of play.
