Álvaro Ramos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 17 minutes into the match, Vidmantas Vaitkus had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of António Castro. Almas FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Vidmantas Vaitkus was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Vidmantas Vaitkus sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mário Fontes kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. When Augusto Castro came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Almas FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Augusto Castro couldn't finish the play. In the 27th minute Augusto Castro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Álvaro Ramos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Almas FC getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Armando Borges hit a great ball. Álvaro Ramos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Augusto Castro, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. 47 minutes into the game, Viorel Jereghi was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Canários da marialva's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Almas FC the free kick. A collision led to Canários da marialva getting a freekick after 48 minutes play. Viorel Jereghi hit a great ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Vidmantas Vaitkus to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Augusto Castro in the 53rd minute of play forced Canários da marialva's goalkeeper Álvaro Ramos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Álvaro Ramos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pedro Ferro in the 55th minute of play. Pedro Ferro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vidmantas Vaitkus recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. António Castro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vidmantas Vaitkus, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. After having played for 69 minutes, Vidmantas Vaitkus managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Canários da marialva's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vidmantas Vaitkus was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 72 played minutes Canários da marialva got a freekick which was hit by Mário Fontes. In the 73rd minute of the match Gustavo Setúbal shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Álvaro Ramos showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Vidmantas Vaitkus fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without António Castro having to interfere. Vidmantas Vaitkus might have been able to make a better finish in the 90th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over António Castro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Vidmantas Vaitkus ran back to his position shaking his head. Vidmantas Vaitkus's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but António Castro read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 93rd minute of play. Canários da marialva's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
