Marcos Mesquita tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 10 minutes into the match, Carnide FC's goal looked a bit too open when Valdemar Marinho came free, but Marcos Mesquita reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Carnide FC's Marcos Mesquita played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valdemar Marinho in the 11th minute of play. The supporters of Académica booed when Carnide FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alberto Assis didn't get a good kick on the ball. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Marcos Mesquita showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Cândido Borba showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lisandro Silva, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. If Lisandro Silva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lisandro Silva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 43 played minutes Carnide FC got a freekick which was hit by Antero Rijo. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Cândido Borba was out of position in the 52 minute of play, and Alberto Assis capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Alberto Assis really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lisandro Silva in the 56th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Cândido Borba saved Académica from getting behind. Isac Pires kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. When Hildeberto Valido came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Carnide FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hildeberto Valido couldn't finish the play. Académica's Cândido Borba played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lisandro Silva in the 60th minute of play. If Valdemar Marinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lisandro Silva in the 89th minute of play forced Académica's goalkeeper Cândido Borba to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 93rd play minute Hildeberto Valido came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Cândido Borba. 1-3. The supporters of Académica booed when Carnide FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lisandro Silva didn't get a good kick on the ball. Carnide FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
