If Ramiro Noronha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Germano Lobato's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Hipólito Calheiros read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 12th minute of play. After 12 played minutes FC Porto got a freekick which was hit by Egídio Seabra. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ramiro Noronha in the 16th minute of play forced Cova da Piedadade FC's goalkeeper António Abrantes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ramiro Noronha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Adriano Rocha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without António Abrantes having to interfere. Ramiro Noronha struck a weak shot in the 33rd minute. António Abrantes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Porto. When Adriano Rocha came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the FC Porto fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adriano Rocha couldn't finish the play. Ramiro Noronha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. António Abrantes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Adriano Rocha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Duarte Regueira stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, Germano Lobato notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of FC Porto's Hipólito Calheiros. Hipólito Calheiros was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Herberto Pinhal during the 57th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to FC Porto getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Patrício Sacramento hit a great ball. After 70 minutes, Pedro Gois mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Porto and the Cova da Piedadade FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Hipólito Calheiros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Duarte Regueira in the 78th minute of play. Hipólito Calheiros came out of the goal in the 83rd minute to try and stop a shot by Cova da Piedadade FC's Duarte Regueira. But to his dismay, Duarte Regueira quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. After a rather tough play, Cova da Piedadade FC's João Prates got a free kick in the 92nd minute. FC Porto's Patrício Sacramento couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Cova da Piedadade FC. Ramiro Noronha recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 96th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Cova da Piedadade FC were victorious despite being under pressure from FC Porto for much of the match.
