Raul Moniz's late challenge caught a os tugas's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Carlos Gonçalves was the one to do the kick off. Cristóvão Moniz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. António Coimbra tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the os tugas defense, Carlos Gonçalves kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of António Coimbra. The os tugas fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that António Coimbra should have stopped the shot. Jacinto Pinheiro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If José Carvalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jacinto Pinheiro came out of the goal in the 87th minute to try and stop a shot by os tugas's Duarte Andrade. But to his dismay, Duarte Andrade quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. In the 93rd minute Carlos Gonçalves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but António Coimbra saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, os tugas's José Carvalho got a free kick in the 94th minute.
