The supporters of SPORTING CP booed when Gaifar FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Óscar Torres didn't get a good kick on the ball. João Brás's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 16thth minute, Zacarias Trigueiro skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Daniel Borges could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 29th minute of the match, but Zacarias Trigueiro made a huge save. Zacarias Trigueiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from João Brás in the 31st minute of the match. A collision led to SPORTING CP getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Zarco Saraiva hit a great ball. After having played for 36 minutes, Daniel Borges managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gaifar FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Borges was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 40 minutes into the match, SPORTING CP's goalkeeper Zacarias Trigueiro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Borges. After 41 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for SPORTING CP! After having played for 48 minutes, Albérico Gusmão managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SPORTING CP's supporters crossed their fingers, but Albérico Gusmão was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.

After a rather tough play, SPORTING CP's Viriato Modesto got a free kick in the 74th minute. Zacarias Trigueiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Borges in the 76th minute of play. The supporters of Gaifar FC booed when SPORTING CP was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cândido Leão didn't get a good kick on the ball. Daniel Borges blasted a shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Zacarias Trigueiro having to make a save. In the 83rd minute, Jordão Campelo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 89th minute, Daniel Borges got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If João Brás had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
