A collision led to SC Belem getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Fábio Neto hit a great ball. In the 11th minute of the match Hugo Assunção sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jaime Barbosa skillfully saved the ball. In the 11th match minute, SC Belem was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marco Luz to maneuver through the defense. If Basílio Paiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Basílio Paiva recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 15th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jaime Barbosa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nuno Delgado, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as SC Formariz's Nuno Delgado slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Jaime Barbosa. That made the score 1-0 after 19 minutes of play. Jaime Barbosa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nuno Delgado, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 23 minutes into the game, Nuno Delgado recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Jaime Barbosa. Nuno Delgado showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. SC Belem's Jaime Barbosa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nuno Delgado in the 30th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in SC Formariz's zone, Jorge Reis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rui Moutinho came out of the goal and Jorge Reis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Eusébio Silva hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. In the 38th minute, one of SC Formariz:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for SC Formariz. Artur Alves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rui Moutinho having to interfere.

In the 54th minute, SC Belem's Jorge Reis dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jorge Reis in the 61st minute of play forced SC Formariz's goalkeeper Rui Moutinho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, SC Formariz's Rui Moutinho got control of the ball when Artur Alves tried to sneak it across the goal line. After having played for 80 minutes, Basílio Paiva managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Formariz's supporters crossed their fingers, but Basílio Paiva was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 81 played minutes SC Belem got a freekick which was hit by Fábio Neto. Jaime Barbosa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Basílio Paiva in the 82nd minute of play. 85 minutes into the match, SC Belem's goal looked a bit too open when Nuno Delgado came free, but Jaime Barbosa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nuno Delgado in the 87th minute of play forced SC Belem's goalkeeper Jaime Barbosa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When SC Formariz's Nuno Delgado, in the 89th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for SC Formariz. Rui Moutinho came out of the goal in the 92nd minute to try and stop a shot by SC Belem's Artur Alves. But to his dismay, Artur Alves quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-3. In the 96th minute, one of SC Formariz:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for SC Formariz. When the match had been going on for 98 minutes, SC Belem's João Trindade got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Rui Moutinho. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. SC Belem walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
