In the 6thth minute of the game Hugo Trindade who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Matriz United Club's Adérito Bragança was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 9th minute, Gastão Garcez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Viliam Oplutil could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 10th minute of the match, but Adérito Bragança made a huge save. After some fancy dribbling in the 11th minute, Hugo Trindade managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Gomide's supporters rose to their feet, but Hugo Trindade was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Adérito Bragança breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 24 minutes into the match, João Ribas notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of SC Gomide's Gonçalo Valente. Gonçalo Valente was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 27th minute Hugo Trindade shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adérito Bragança saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gonçalo Valente showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from João Ribas in the 34th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Viliam Oplutil got free with Adérito Bragança in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 40th minute, Viliam Oplutil got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Amílcar Dantas struck a weak shot in the 42nd minute. Adérito Bragança didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Gomide. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

SC Gomide's Gonçalo Valente played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by João Ribas in the 55th minute of play. Gonçalo Valente took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from João Ribas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Viliam Oplutil came up free with the goalie in the 68th minute, the SC Gomide fans jumped to their feet. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Wilson Benevides the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Matriz United Club protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Wilson Benevides had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In a very dangerous position, a player in Matriz United Club fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 73rd minute. Penalty!
