Rogério Pinto hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Caldas da Rainha SC's zone, Júlio Santos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Laércio Menezes came out of the goal and Júlio Santos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 24 minutes, Júlio Santos mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sport Clube Benfica and the Caldas da Rainha SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Júlio Barbosa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Virgílio Meira in the 30th minute of the match. In the 48thth minute of the game Virgílio Meira who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sport Clube Benfica's Júlio Barbosa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When Isac Alcântara came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Caldas da Rainha SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Isac Alcântara couldn't finish the play. In the 60th match minute, Sport Clube Benfica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Júlio Santos to maneuver through the defense. If Isac Alcântara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Júlio Barbosa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Isac Alcântara in the 68th minute. Júlio Barbosa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Virgílio Meira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 77 minutes of play, Sport Clube Benfica's Betão Amaral made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Laércio Menezes was left in no man's land by his defense there! When Bonifacio Ferrando came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the Sport Clube Benfica fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bonifacio Ferrando couldn't finish the play. Sport Clube Benfica's Júlio Barbosa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Virgílio Meira in the 95th minute of play. The Sport Clube Benfica supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Caldas da Rainha SC's performance. The match ended with a win for Caldas da Rainha SC.
