In the 6th minute the ball was on its way in behind SC Bioucas's goalkeeper Joaquim Rocha, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. José Assunção received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Joaquim Rocha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Joaquim Rocha didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gustavo Moniz went, in the 17th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Joaquim Rocha showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from José Assunção in the 20th minute of the match. SC Bioucas's Joaquim Rocha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Assunção in the 22nd minute of play. Joaquim Rocha came out of the goal in the 22nd minute to try and stop a shot by Sport Lisboa e Benfica's José Assunção. But to his dismay, José Assunção quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. With a couple of smart ball manuevers António Maia in the 31st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jacinto Soares saved Sport Lisboa e Benfica from getting behind. Joaquim Rocha stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of José Assunção's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Afonso Ribeiro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sport Lisboa e Benfica's supporters rose to their feet, but Afonso Ribeiro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Joaquim Rocha breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jacinto Soares made a fantastic save in the 38th minute, when Afonso Macedo sent off a good shot on target. In the 42nd minute Eusébio Machado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacinto Soares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

Jacinto Soares stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Afonso Macedo's shot from short distance in the 51st minute. After 58 played minutes, SC Bioucas's Carlos Cardoso shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Jacinto Soares came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in SC Bioucas reached it. Jacinto Soares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eusébio Machado in the 61st minute of the match. In the 65th minute, Afonso Ribeiro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 67 minutes into the match, SC Bioucas's goal looked a bit too open when Gustavo Moniz came free, but Joaquim Rocha reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. António Maia's late challenge caught a Sport Lisboa e Benfica's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. António Maia helped the player get up and apologised. In the 68th minute, António Maia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in SC Bioucas's zone, Gustavo Moniz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Joaquim Rocha came out of the goal and Gustavo Moniz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When José Assunção came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Sport Lisboa e Benfica fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that José Assunção couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eusébio Machado in the 73rd minute of play forced Sport Lisboa e Benfica's goalkeeper Jacinto Soares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee showed Afonso Macedo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to SC Bioucas getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Afonso Macedo hit a great ball. Sport Lisboa e Benfica's Jacinto Soares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Afonso Macedo in the 88th minute of play. A hard shot 90 in the game by José Assunção from a close distance when the talented Joaquim Rocha managed to make a qualified save. SC Bioucas's players were relieved. José Assunção's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 93rdth minute, Joaquim Rocha skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. José Assunção sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal.
