Daniel Costa started the match with the kick off. When Hamilton Mansilha fell near the penalty area in the 5th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Campea's protests and gave Hamilton Mansilha a yellow card for diving instead. When Funchal e Benfica's Daniel Costa in the 6th minute got a chance for a shot 6th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye SC Campea's goalie prevented a goal. Lourenço Palha could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 10th minute of the match, but Delfim Barros made a huge save. After 15 minutes of play SC Campea's Hamilton Mansilha was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Daniel Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Daniel Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Horácio Oliveira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Daniel Costa struck a weak shot in the 31st minute. Horácio Oliveira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Funchal e Benfica. After 33 played minutes SC Campea got a freekick which was hit by Silvério Diegues. If Daniel Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 47 minutes into the match, Funchal e Benfica's goalkeeper Delfim Barros had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lourenço Palha. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Lourenço Palha in the 54th minute of play forced Funchal e Benfica's goalkeeper Delfim Barros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to SC Campea getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Jairo Medeiros hit a great ball. Daniel Costa struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. Horácio Oliveira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Funchal e Benfica. Mário Esteves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Horácio Oliveira having to interfere. Jairo Medeiros hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. The audience was convinced that Daniel Costa's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Horácio Oliveira was relentless in the 76th minute of the game. 81 minutes into the game, Daniel Vaz recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Horácio Oliveira. Daniel Vaz showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. In the last second Horácio Oliveira throw himself and got hold of the ball when Daniel Costa in the 86thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. 88 minutes into the match, Daniel Costa had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Horácio Oliveira. SC Campea's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Daniel Costa was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. When Daniel Costa came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Funchal e Benfica fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Costa couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in SC Campea's zone, Pedro Alves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Horácio Oliveira came out of the goal and Pedro Alves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Funchal e Benfica's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
