The referee gave CD Sanjoanense a penalty, 93 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Jacinto Valverde, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Usseira's Amado Távora. 2-3. Nivaldo Silva kicked well hit freekick during the 98th minute of the match. The CD Sanjoanense supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing CD Sanjoanense would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
