Mato's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bowen McCollion was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Basílio Moutinhos short, quick shot in the 36thth minute got Sálvio Damásio to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. If Bowen McCollion had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Basílio Moutinho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Aurelio Bucciarelli kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. Bowen McCollion fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sálvio Damásio having to interfere.
The wind increased when Bowen McCollion made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd match minute, Mato was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aurelian Nichitelea to maneuver through the defense. Mato's defense didn't have a chance, in the 57th minute, when Adelino Ruas scored to the left of an out of position Alexandre Guerreiro, making the score, 0-2. 60 minutes into the game, Adelino Vigário lined in a short shot 0-3 behind a frustrated Alexandre Guerreiro. Alexandre Guerreiro was out of position in the 96 minute of play, and Lúcio Rodrigues capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Lúcio Rodrigues really showed his touch with that goal: 3-4. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Mato lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
