The referee ignored Benfica FC's protests and gave Silvério Ribeiro a yellow card for diving instead. In the 3rd minute, Silvério Ribeiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jorge Águas made an important save on a dangerous shot by Diogo Viegas in the 8th minute. After a rather tough play, Benfica FC's Martinho Valadares got a free kick in the 8th minute. Curraleira FC's Paulo Leal got a good chance for a goal in the 9th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 16th match minute, Curraleira FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rui Amorim to maneuver through the defense. Martinho Valadares struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Lúcio Pinho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Benfica FC. Romão Miranda might have been able to make a better finish in the 35th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Lúcio Pinho. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Romão Miranda ran back to his position shaking his head. 36 minutes into the game, André Melo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Curraleira FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Benfica FC the free kick. In the 36th match minute, Curraleira FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by André Melo to maneuver through the defense. Paulo Leal blasted a shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jorge Águas having to make a save. Silvério Ribeiro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lúcio Pinho read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 43rd minute of play. Silvério Ribeiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Lúcio Pinho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lúcio Pinho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Silvério Ribeiro in the 47th minute of play. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Thanks to some nice moves Romão Miranda could shoot a difficult shot in the 62nd minute, which Lúcio Pinho however easily saved by the left post. A collision led to Benfica FC getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Rodolfo Chagas hit a great ball. Benfica FC's Jorge Águas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Diogo Viegas in the 66th minute of play. Lúcio Pinho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Silvério Ribeiro in the 69th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Silvério Ribeiro in the 75th minute of play forced Curraleira FC's goalkeeper Lúcio Pinho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Paulo Leal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorge Águas having to interfere. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 93 minutes into the game, Humberto Leão was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Curraleira FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Benfica FC the free kick.
