The supporters of Goja FC booed when FC Vimeiro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alberto Barbosa didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Paulo Simões's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hermínio Casado was relentless in the 16th minute of the game. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Eduardo Carvalho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Goja FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Eduardo Carvalho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hermínio Casado breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Eduardo Carvalho came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Goja FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eduardo Carvalho couldn't finish the play. In the 45th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Vimeiro's goalkeeper Hermínio Casado, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Domingos Teixeira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hermínio Casado having to interfere. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Alberto Barbosa to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpected shot in the 53rd minute by Paulo Simões got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. If Frederico Vilarinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Frederico Vilarinho kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Paulo Simões managed to get in a good position for a shot. Goja FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Paulo Simões was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hermínio Casado breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. FC Vimeiro's Hermínio Casado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eduardo Carvalho in the 71st minute of play. In the 73rd minute Goja FC were awarded a corner. Jaime Veiga went to the cornerflag to take it. If Eduardo Carvalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Goja FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Goja FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
