Xavier Nogueira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Horácio Luz fell near the penalty area in the 14th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored F.C.Couto's protests and gave Horácio Luz a yellow card for diving instead. Damião Poças didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from André Melo went, in the 16th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. With 24 minutes on the clock, Rui Azevedo commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. 23 minutes into the game, one of Jugueiros:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 26th minute there was a penalty for F.C.Couto. Jerónimo Valente stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Xavier Nogueira. 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Inácio Sarmento in the 33rd minute of play forced Jugueiros's goalkeeper Xavier Nogueira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
