The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Altino Mansilha came out of the goal in the 22nd minute to try and stop a shot by SC Cetos's Rodolfo Alves. But to his dismay, Rodolfo Alves quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Santiago Corte-Real managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rezende FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Santiago Corte-Real was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Patrício Carvalhais breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Alexandre Setúbal charged in rather forcefully in the 37th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alexandre Setúbal the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Alexandre Setúbal kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. Jacinto Varela fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Patrício Carvalhais having to interfere. After the first half SC Cetos were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 72nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Rezende FC's goalkeeper Altino Mansilha, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Altino Mansilha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
