Altino Nóbrega took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gregório Valadão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Aldo Pinhal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dimas Vidigal in the 4th minute of the match. Fernando Ferro took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 7th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Altino Nóbrega. Ardido FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. When Aprígio Laureano came up free with the goalie in the 10th minute, the SC Taipadas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aprígio Laureano couldn't finish the play. Dimas Vidigal might have been able to make a better finish in the 15th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Aldo Pinhal. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dimas Vidigal ran back to his position shaking his head. After some careless play in the SC Taipadas defense, Altino Rijo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Aldo Pinhal. The SC Taipadas fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Aldo Pinhal should have stopped the shot. If Dimas Vidigal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 28th minute, Dimas Vidigal got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. SC Taipadas's Aprígio Laureano got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 37 minutes into the match, Ardido FC's goal looked a bit too open when Aprígio Laureano came free, but Altino Nóbrega reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Altino Nóbrega was out of position in the 42 minute of play, and Aprígio Laureano capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Aprígio Laureano really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. Altino Nóbrega made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aprígio Laureano in the 47th minute of play. Altino Nóbrega acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 49th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Idalécio Dias. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Dimas Vidigal made a kick off. In the 56th match minute, Ardido FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Graciano Brás to maneuver through the defense. Ilídio Cabral received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Aldo Pinhal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dimas Vidigal blasted a shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Aldo Pinhal having to make a save. Aldo Pinhal made a fantastic save in the 63rd minute, when Ilídio Cabral sent off a good shot on target. Aldo Pinhal didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ilídio Cabral went, in the 64th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rui Lages during the 67th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 67th match minute, SC Taipadas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rui Lages to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Dimas Vidigal managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ardido FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Dimas Vidigal was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Aldo Pinhal breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 97th minute Dimas Vidigal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aldo Pinhal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
