SC Meruge's Raul Magalhães played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oliveira Matias in the 18th minute of play. When Américo Fidalgo fell near the penalty area in the 19th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Meruge's protests and gave Américo Fidalgo a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, SC Meruge's Américo Fidalgo got a free kick in the 19th minute. Raul Magalhães took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomás Cabral, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 21st match minute, Costa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tomás Cabral to maneuver through the defense. Bento Quadros might have been able to make a better finish in the 23rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mariano Coimbra. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Bento Quadros ran back to his position shaking his head. Raul Magalhães showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Oliveira Matias, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. Rubim Graça scored 1-0 in the 32nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Mariano Coimbra, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When Amado Gueifão fell near the penalty area in the 37th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Meruge's protests and gave Amado Gueifão a yellow card for diving instead. In a very dangerous position, a player in SC Meruge fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 36th minute. Penalty! The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Bento Quadros made a kick off. The audience was convinced that Rubim Graça's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mariano Coimbra was relentless in the 61st minute of the game. Rubim Graça's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mariano Coimbra read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 68th minute of play. Mariano Coimbra showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bento Quadros, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. Rubim Graça recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Oliveira Matias could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 75th minute of the match, but Raul Magalhães made a huge save. After 78 played minutes SC Meruge got a freekick which was hit by Micael Rebocho. Micael Rebocho took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 81st minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Mariano Coimbra. Costa's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Bento Quadros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mariano Coimbra having to interfere. Oliveira Matias's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 97thth minute, Raul Magalhães skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
