In the 13th minute of the match, Armindo Nogueira tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Adriano Mansilha saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Adriano Mansilha made a fantastic save in the 14th minute, when Sandro Pereira sent off a good shot on target. Montenegrelo's Sandro Pereira got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 17 minutes, Sandro Pereira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Montenegrelo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sandro Pereira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 19 minutes into the game, Nuno Fragoso was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Mirandella's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Montenegrelo the free kick. In the 19th match minute, Mirandella was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nuno Fragoso to maneuver through the defense. In the 22nd minute Armindo Nogueira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adriano Mansilha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Adriano Mansilha showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Armindo Nogueira in the 23rd minute of the match. Adriano Mansilha stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Armindo Nogueira's shot from short distance in the 25th minute. Adriano Mansilha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Armindo Nogueira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Mirandella getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Nuno Fragoso hit a great ball. If Sandro Pereira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. In the 38th minute, Sandro Pereira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Armindo Nogueira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a defensive mix-up in Mirandella's zone, Sandro Pereira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Adriano Mansilha came out of the goal and Sandro Pereira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Sandro Pereira came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Montenegrelo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sandro Pereira couldn't finish the play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Vítor Fagundes to make the kick off. In the 52nd match minute, Montenegrelo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Francisco Miranda to maneuver through the defense. 53 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Mirandella's Jorge Azevedo fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. In the 56th minute, Vítor Fagundes fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Carlos Gaspar, passed just outside the right post. Adriano Mansilha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sandro Pereira in the 74th minute of play. Rui Valentim kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. Carlos Paiva, 77 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Jorge Azevedo struck a weak shot in the 80th minute. Carlos Gaspar didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mirandella. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sandro Pereira in the 82nd minute of play forced Mirandella's goalkeeper Adriano Mansilha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 86th minute Francisco Miranda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adriano Mansilha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. João Brás charged in rather forcefully in the 88th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed João Brás the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 88 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Montenegrelo! The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Mirandella walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
