When Miguel Pacheco came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the Olalhas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Miguel Pacheco couldn't finish the play. In the 15th match minute, MATRAQUILHOS DE PORTUGAL was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by David Esparteiro to maneuver through the defense. 18 minutes had been played when some careless play by MATRAQUILHOS DE PORTUGAL's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. José Lima was slow to take the kick. During this time Olalhas's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Olalhas's António Leite to a score. 0-1 in the 18th minute. 22 minutes into the match, MATRAQUILHOS DE PORTUGAL's Albérico Raminhos sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Afonso Brito narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 36th minute Joel Fidalgo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Afonso Brito saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Patrício Cardoso charged in rather forcefully in the 38th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Patrício Cardoso the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to MATRAQUILHOS DE PORTUGAL getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Patrício Cardoso hit a great ball. Joel Fidalgo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. António Leite was the one to do the kick off. The audience was convinced that António Leite's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Vicente Caiado was relentless in the 53rd minute of the game. A collision led to MATRAQUILHOS DE PORTUGAL getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Aloísio Medeiros hit a great ball. Miguel Pacheco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. David Esparteiro hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. Vicente Caiado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from António Leite in the 64th minute of the match. António Leite received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Vicente Caiado came out and tried to block the shot, but António Leite slotted it home off the left post making it 0-2 in the 68th minute. Albérico Raminhos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Afonso Brito tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. António Leite fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vicente Caiado having to interfere. Olalhas's Afonso Brito played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Albérico Raminhos in the 79th minute of play. With a little luck, MATRAQUILHOS DE PORTUGAL's Vicente Caiado got control of the ball when Miguel Pacheco tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Miguel Pacheco got free in front of the goal in the 82nd minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Vicente Caiado was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in MATRAQUILHOS DE PORTUGAL's zone, Sebastião Neto stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vicente Caiado came out of the goal and Sebastião Neto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 88 minutes into the match, MATRAQUILHOS DE PORTUGAL's goal looked a bit too open when António Leite came free, but Vicente Caiado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vicente Caiado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from António Leite, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. Vicente Caiado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from António Leite in the 95th minute of play. The Olalhas supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Olalhas would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
