The referee ignored Palhaca FC's protests and gave Álvaro Leiria a yellow card for diving instead. In the 22nd minute Laércio Valente shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but João Santarém saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 23 played minutes Palhaca FC got a freekick which was hit by Álvaro Leiria. Homero Avelar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. SC Coelhoni CC's supporters rose to their feet, but Laércio Valente was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. João Santarém breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

In the 86th minute of the match Diego Esteves sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but João Santarém skillfully saved the ball.
