Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Viriato Faria in the 4th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Herberto Garcia prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience was convinced that Viriato Faria's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Herberto Garcia was relentless in the 5th minute of the game. Domingos Pinho's late challenge caught a Carapu's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Domingos Pinho helped the player get up and apologised. In the 9th minute, Domingos Pinho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Herberto Garcia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Viriato Faria in the 11th minute of play. When Sérgio Santos came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the SC Abitureiras fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sérgio Santos couldn't finish the play. Herberto Garcia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Viriato Faria in the 20th minute of play. Estevão Fernandes's late challenge caught a SC Abitureiras's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Estevão Fernandes helped the player get up and apologised. Carapu's Herberto Garcia proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 29th minute of the match, managed to save Carapu from getting a goal against them. Ricardo Lameiras sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 41 minutes into the match, SC Abitureiras's Viriato Faria sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Herberto Garcia narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 42 minutes into the game, Ricardo Lameiras cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Duarte Azevedo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 46th minute Herberto Quintanilha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Duarte Azevedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The wind increased when Ricardo Lameiras made the kick off in the second half. Herberto Quintanilha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Domingos Pinho was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 82 minutes had been played. The supporters of Carapu booed when SC Abitureiras was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Domingos Pinho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sandro Vieira fired away a difficult shot at goal in the 85th minute. He almost succeeded, but the ball bounced in the crossbar and then went out. It was a very nice shot. 88 minutes into the match, SC Abitureiras's Sandro Vieira sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Herberto Garcia narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Luís Assunção during the 89th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see SC Abitureiras lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
