Albertino Vigário's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Bernardo Lima read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 15th minute of play. F.C.Ferneyrood's Filipe Veiga proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to save F.C.Ferneyrood from getting a goal against them. Filipe Veiga showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Miguel Amaro in the 18th minute of the match. Miguel Amaro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Filipe Veiga having to interfere. Thanks to some nice moves Jaime Faria could shoot a difficult shot in the 33rd minute, which Filipe Veiga however easily saved by the left post. Filipe Veiga made a fantastic save in the 35th minute, when Jaime Faria sent off a good shot on target. 36 minutes into the game, Rui Amorim was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. F.C.Ferneyrood's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Maragota the free kick. After 36 played minutes F.C.Ferneyrood got a freekick which was hit by Rui Amorim. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Jaime Faria managed to get in a good position for a shot. Maragota's supporters rose to their feet, but Jaime Faria was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Filipe Veiga breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jaime Faria sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Albertino Vigário was the one to do the kick off. F.C.Ferneyrood's Filipe Veiga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Miguel Amaro in the 56th minute of play. Filipe Veiga took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Miguel Amaro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Anselmo Brás recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 70 minutes, Abel Guerreiro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Maragota and the F.C.Ferneyrood players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Maragota's Abel Guerreiro got a free kick in the 70th minute. Filipe Veiga showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Miguel Amaro, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched F.C.Ferneyrood eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
