Abel Graça charged in rather forcefully in the 7th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Abel Graça the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 7th match minute, SC Gibraltar was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Abel Graça to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of SC Gibraltar booed when SC Azurva was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Simão Azevedo didn't get a good kick on the ball. António Nunes's late challenge caught a SC Azurva's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. António Nunes helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to SC Gibraltar getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. António Nunes hit a great ball. When Ricardo Santarém came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the SC Azurva fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ricardo Santarém couldn't finish the play. Ricardo Andrade made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adalberto Ruas in the 30th minute of play. Adalberto Ruas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ricardo Andrade having to interfere. If Rafael Gaspar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Simão Azevedo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Belém having to interfere. Rafael Gaspar struck a weak shot in the 42nd minute. Carlos Belém didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Azurva. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Rafael Gaspar made a kick off. After a defensive mix-up in SC Azurva's zone, Adalberto Ruas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ricardo Andrade came out of the goal and Adalberto Ruas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 60th minute, André Neto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With his leg Ricardo Andrade managed to avoid a goal in the 61stth minute, when SC Gibraltar's Adalberto Ruas fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Joel Neves took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 65th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Carlos Belém. SC Gibraltar's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Ricardo Santarém received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute.
