When Carlos Dantas came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the Caxieira fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Carlos Dantas couldn't finish the play. Rui Aires showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jaime Barbosa, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jordão Varela in the 20th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bruno Borges saved Caxieira from getting behind. In the 24th minute of the match, Jordão Varela tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Bruno Borges saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After 29 played minutes Caxieira got a freekick which was hit by Vicente Brás. Vicente Brás kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. The SLB players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Caxieira were winning 0-3.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jaime Barbosa to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Raimundo Travassos in the 53rd minute of play forced Caxieira's goalkeeper Bruno Borges to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 55th minute, one of Caxieira:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Caxieira. Timóteo Figueiredo placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! If Jaime Barbosa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. SLB's Reinaldo Morais got a good chance for a goal in the 98th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Caxieira supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Caxieira would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
