After a defensive mix-up in SC Aves's zone, Basílio Gonçalves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fabrício Montenegro came out of the goal and Basílio Gonçalves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 10th minute, Basílio Gonçalves managed to get in a good position for a shot. G D PRAÇA DA REPUBLICA's supporters rose to their feet, but Basílio Gonçalves was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fabrício Montenegro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Tiago Borges sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Adriano Calçada fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulo Cruz having to interfere. Daniel Gaspar charged in rather forcefully in the 19th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Daniel Gaspar the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Paulo Cruz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adriano Calçada in the 23rd minute of play. After 24 minutes of play, G D PRAÇA DA REPUBLICA's Basílio Gonçalves made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Fabrício Montenegro was left in no man's land by his defense there! The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 27th minute of the game. One of SC Aves:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of G D PRAÇA DA REPUBLICA:s goal. Fabrício Montenegro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Basílio Gonçalves, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. In the 34th minute, Tiago Borges got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some careless play in the SC Aves defense, António Garcia kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fabrício Montenegro. The SC Aves fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fabrício Montenegro should have stopped the shot. Basílio Gonçalves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fabrício Montenegro having to interfere. The SC Aves players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. G D PRAÇA DA REPUBLICA were winning 0-3.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Basílio Gonçalves stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. David Cardoso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. Fabrício Montenegro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. During the 60th minute of the match Daniel Gaspar completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Daniel Gaspar a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Adriano Calçada came free in the 91st minute and tried to tip the ball over Paulo Cruz, but to the joy of G D PRAÇA DA REPUBLICA's supporters the ball went over. David Cardoso might have been able to make a better finish in the 94th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Fabrício Montenegro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. David Cardoso ran back to his position shaking his head. G D PRAÇA DA REPUBLICA's António Garcia got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched G D PRAÇA DA REPUBLICA eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
