Tiago Matias charged in rather forcefully in the 14th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. SC Carragozela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Adão Ramalho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Idalécio Morais took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristiano Henriques, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Varziela's Álvaro Mendes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rui Sequeira in the 27th minute of play. Adão Ramalho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Álvaro Mendes having to interfere. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 36th minute of the game. One of SC Carragozela:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Varziela:s goal. In the 37th minute there was a penalty for Varziela. Rui Ramos stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Idalécio Morais. 1-1. 45 minutes into the match, Varziela's goalkeeper Álvaro Mendes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Adão Ramalho. If Adão Ramalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Cristiano Henriques made a kick off. 61 minutes into the match, Varziela's goal looked a bit too open when Adão Ramalho came free, but Álvaro Mendes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Cristiano Henriques had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Varziela's Armindo Abreu got a free kick in the 84th minute. Idalécio Morais showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristiano Henriques in the 91st minute of the match. Armindo Abreu's late challenge caught a SC Carragozela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Armindo Abreu helped the player get up and apologised. In the 94th match minute, Varziela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Armindo Abreu to maneuver through the defense. Álvaro Mendes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rui Sequeira in the 97th minute of play. The Varziela players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
