The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 7 minutes into the match, Jaime Rocha notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Sancheira's Jairo Lima. The Sancheira fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Inácio Nascimento made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pascoal Póvoas in the 13th minute of play. Luís Tavares's late challenge caught a Sancheira's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luís Tavares helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, SC Matacais's Luís Tavares got a free kick in the 16th minute. Abel Carneiro hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. SC Matacais's Inácio Nascimento played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pascoal Póvoas in the 19th minute of play. In the 27th minute of the match Sebastião Luz sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jairo Lima skillfully saved the ball. Through an outstanding action, after 30 minutes, Jairo Lima successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Abel Carneiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jairo Lima having to interfere. In the 46th minute, David Guerra hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gaspar Gomes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Emílio Neto to make the kick off. Jairo Lima didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Matacais. After some careless play in the Sancheira defense, Gaspar Gomes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jairo Lima. The Sancheira fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jairo Lima should have stopped the shot. Sebastião Luz hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. Sancheira's Jairo Lima played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emílio Neto in the 79th minute of play. Sancheira's Pascoal Póvoas got a good chance for a goal in the 84th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 87th minute, Emílio Neto ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jairo Lima was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-1. Emílio Neto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Jairo Lima tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. SC Matacais's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
