An unexpectedly hard shot by Márcio Fonseca in the 20th minute of play forced Chan FC's goalkeeper Laércio Freire to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Monteiros FC's zone, Norberto Nogueira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gaspar Alves came out of the goal and Norberto Nogueira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 25th minute, Eurico Valente hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Chan FC's Laércio Freire played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Márcio Fonseca in the 27th minute of play. In the 32nd minute, Isidoro Malafaia got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Isidoro Malafaia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 39th minute, Isidoro Malafaia ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Laércio Freire was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Rui Conde was the one to do the kick off. With an all-out effort, Monteiros FC's Laércio Freire threw himself towards the right post 90 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Isidoro Malafaia, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After 92 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Chan FC! Chan FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 95th minute, when Isidoro Malafaia scored to the left of an out of position Laércio Freire, making the score, 0-2. Monteiros FC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
