André Brito received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Rui Eiró tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 6th minute, Joel Abreu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The SC Maxiais fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. In the 8th match minute, SC Maxiais was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rafael Nascimento to maneuver through the defense. Nuno Leiria was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Júlio Campelo showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 10 minute of play. 13 minutes into the match, SC Maxiais's goalkeeper Nuno Leiria had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Júlio Campelo. Júlio Campelo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. SC Maxiais's Nuno Leiria played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Malheiro in the 18th minute of play. In the 25th minute André Brito shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rui Eiró saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Joel Abreu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Rui Eiró tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. David Malheiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 33rd minute of the match Renato Igrejas sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Nuno Leiria skillfully saved the ball. SC Sousa's Emanuel Brandão pulled a muscle in his back after 34 minutes and couldn't finish the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Manuel Rocha during the 34th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to SC Maxiais getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Manuel Rocha hit a great ball. 37 minutes into the game, SC Maxiais's Joel Abreu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rui Eiró made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Rui Eiró took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from André Brito, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to SC Sousa getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Alberto Pestana hit a great ball. Joel Abreu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Rui Eiró showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from André Brito in the 47th minute of the match. 48 minutes into the match, SC Sousa's goal looked a bit too open when Joel Abreu came free, but Rui Eiró reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Júlio Campelo to make the kick off. Rui Eiró made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from André Brito in the 53rd minute of play. The audience was convinced that André Brito's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rui Eiró was relentless in the 55th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by André Brito in the 57th minute of play forced SC Sousa's goalkeeper Rui Eiró to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Joel Abreu took the ball and in the 62 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rui Eiró. Rui Eiró dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. André Brito fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rui Eiró having to interfere. Rui Eiró didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Joel Abreu went, in the 74th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-4 was the resulting score. Mateus Santana hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. In the 79th minute, Vladimiro Parente hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 80th minute, Joel Abreu managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Maxiais's supporters rose to their feet, but Joel Abreu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rui Eiró breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 85th minute, Joel Abreu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Joel Abreu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rui Eiró showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from André Brito, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. Rui Eiró made a fantastic save in the 94th minute, when Joel Abreu sent off a good shot on target. After a defensive mix-up in SC Sousa's zone, André Brito stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rui Eiró came out of the goal and André Brito tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. SC Maxiais played a much better game than SC Sousa and deserved their victory. The SC Sousa players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
