In the 5thth minute of the game Basílio Lencastre who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SC Alegrete's Manuel Branco was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 10 minutes into the match, SC Alegrete's goal looked a bit too open when Basílio Lencastre came free, but Manuel Branco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Manuel Branco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Basílio Lencastre, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. In the 24th minute, Gil Veiga ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Manuel Branco was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Manuel Branco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gil Veiga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Gil Veiga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Gala FC defense, Rui Fonseca kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Lisandro Sequeira. The Gala FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Lisandro Sequeira should have stopped the shot. Jorge Branco kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mário Baptista during the 53rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 54 minutes into the match, Gala FC's Edgar Pegado broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Gil Veiga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to SC Alegrete getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Manuel Branco made a fantastic save in the 68th minute, when Hamilton Amaral sent off a good shot on target. 3-2 became the score in the 72nd minute when Sandro Nascimento elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Manuel Branco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Basílio Lencastre in the 77th minute of the match. Gil Veiga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sandro Nascimento's late challenge caught a Gala FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sandro Nascimento helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to SC Alegrete getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Sandro Nascimento hit a great ball. Gil Veiga might have been able to make a better finish in the 89th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Manuel Branco. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gil Veiga ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of Gala FC booed when SC Alegrete was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 98 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sandro Nascimento didn't get a good kick on the ball. The SC Alegrete support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
