Mariano Monteiro ran back to his position shaking his head. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mariano Monteiro in the 78th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nivaldo Pais saved SportingC. Vilafranquense from getting behind. In the 81st minute of the match, Herberto Guarda got a very nice opportunity to score, but Afonso Nascimento was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Afonso Nascimento didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Herberto Guarda went, in the 83rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 89th minute Mariano Monteiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nivaldo Pais saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Domingos Lucena was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 94th minute. SportingC.
