After 3 minutes of play, Esquilas's Júlio Araújo made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. José Miranda was left in no man's land by his defense there! 9 minutes into the match, Rodao FC's goal looked a bit too open when Júlio Araújo came free, but José Miranda reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Júlio Araújo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Miranda having to interfere. After 17 played minutes Rodao FC got a freekick which was hit by Armando Barbosa. Sérgio Soares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from João Pires, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Abel Luz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 26 minutes into the match, Esquilas's goal looked a bit too open when Abel Luz came free, but Sérgio Soares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Esquilas's zone, João Pires stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sérgio Soares came out of the goal and João Pires tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When João Pires came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Rodao FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that João Pires couldn't finish the play. When Daniel Soares fell near the penalty area in the 34th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Esquilas's protests and gave Daniel Soares a yellow card for diving instead. After 34 played minutes Esquilas got a freekick which was hit by Daniel Soares. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Júlio Araújo made a kick off. When Esquilas's Rui Pacheco in the 53rd minute got a chance for a shot 53rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Rodao FC's goalie prevented a goal. After a defensive mix-up in Rodao FC's zone, Júlio Araújo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. José Miranda came out of the goal and Júlio Araújo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rodao FC's José Miranda played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rui Pacheco in the 57th minute of play. José Miranda made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rui Pacheco in the 57th minute of play. If João Pires had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rui Pacheco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. José Miranda tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling João Pires in the 66th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sérgio Soares prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Rodao FC's José Miranda played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Júlio Araújo in the 68th minute of play. Rui Pacheco struck a weak shot in the 70th minute. José Miranda didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Esquilas. Armando Barbosa kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Júlio Araújo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Esquilas's supporters rose to their feet, but Júlio Araújo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. José Miranda breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. José Miranda took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rui Pacheco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Esquilas had won after a very even match.
