The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Carlos Borba fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristiano Azevedo having to interfere. If Jorge Brás had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Golpilhares FC's zone, Oliveira Lisboa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Inácio Leal came out of the goal and Oliveira Lisboa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to SC Afonsos getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Rafael Matos hit a great ball. In the 18th minute Carlos Borba shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristiano Azevedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alberto Tavares charged in rather forcefully in the 18th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alberto Tavares the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 19th match minute, SC Afonsos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alberto Tavares to maneuver through the defense. Jorge Brás received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Cristiano Azevedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Jorge Brás came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Golpilhares FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jorge Brás couldn't finish the play. If Carlos Borba had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cristiano Azevedo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Borba in the 33rd minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Carlos Borba in the 34th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Cristiano Azevedo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 36 minutes into the match, SC Afonsos's goal looked a bit too open when Jorge Brás came free, but Cristiano Azevedo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 44th match minute, SC Afonsos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Viriato Barros to maneuver through the defense. After 47 minutes of play SC Afonsos's Alberto Tavares was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Oliveira Lisboa was the one to do the kick off. Jorge Brás's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cristiano Azevedo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 54th minute of play. Cristiano Azevedo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jorge Brás in the 55th minute. Carlos Borba fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristiano Azevedo having to interfere. In the 65th minute of the match, Carlos Borba tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Cristiano Azevedo saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 69 minutes in the game, Carlos Borba fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Cristiano Azevedo having to interfere. Jorge Brás struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Cristiano Azevedo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Golpilhares FC. In the 74th minute Carlos Borba shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristiano Azevedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Manuel Moutinho charged in rather forcefully in the 75th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Manuel Moutinho the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Golpilhares FC booed when SC Afonsos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Manuel Moutinho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Carlos Borba sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Golpilhares FC players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
