But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that José Ramos couldn't finish the play. In the 36th minute the ball was on its way in behind SC Comunhas's goalkeeper Cândido Moutinho, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Cândido Moutinho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from José Ramos in the 37th minute of the match. In the 41st match minute, SC Fontela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jorge Vieira to maneuver through the defense. Bruno Coelho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bento Luz in the 42nd minute of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lourenço Maia stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After having played for 55 minutes, Mário Matos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mário Guerreiro's late challenge caught a SC Fontela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. In the 83rd minute, SC Fontela's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Bento Luz fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Bruno Coelho stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Lourenço Maia's shot from short distance in the 84th minute. 89 minutes into the match, SC Comunhas's Lourenço Maia sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Bruno Coelho narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. SC Fontela had won after a very even match.
