José Lisboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Américo Reis, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. When Miguel Queirós came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Mamodeiro FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Miguel Queirós couldn't finish the play. After some careless play in the Corujeira FC defense, Miguel Queirós kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Paulo Teixeira. The Corujeira FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Paulo Teixeira should have stopped the shot. In the 44th minute of the match, João Borges tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but José Lisboa saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Miguel Queirós stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Mamodeiro FC's zone, João Borges stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. José Lisboa came out of the goal and João Borges tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If João Borges had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 59th minute João Borges shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José Lisboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 60th minute, Adolfo Delgado hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alexandre Nogueira was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 61st played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. After some careless play in the Mamodeiro FC defense, Adolfo Resende kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of José Lisboa. The Mamodeiro FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that José Lisboa should have stopped the shot. Alexandre Nogueira's late challenge caught a Mamodeiro FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alexandre Nogueira helped the player get up and apologised. In a very dangerous position, a player in Corujeira FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 72nd minute. Penalty! In the 74th minute, Mamodeiro FC's Delfim Santos dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-3. If Adolfo Resende had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Miguel Queirós fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulo Teixeira having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling João Borges in the 87th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck José Lisboa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of Corujeira FC booed when Mamodeiro FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gaspar Simões didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Carlos Simões had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Miguel Queirós was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 98th minute. Mamodeiro FC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Mamodeiro FC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
