The penalty shot was made by Joaquim Freitas, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Mangona's Cristiano Soares. 1-0. If Lúcio Lopes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 9 minutes into the match, António Cabral notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Alares FC's Cláudio Guarda. Cláudio Guarda was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 15th match minute, Mangona was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rafael Miranda to maneuver through the defense. When the match clock showed 20 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Basílio Fonseca sped through Mangona's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Cristiano Soares. The audience thought a goal was coming when Basílio Fonseca got free with Cristiano Soares in the 23rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Óscar Leão came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Alares FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Óscar Leão couldn't finish the play. In the 27th match minute, Mangona was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gil Vieira to maneuver through the defense. If Óscar Leão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. António Cabral received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Cláudio Guarda tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cláudio Guarda showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lúcio Lopes in the 33rd minute of the match. Cristiano Soares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Delfim Domingues in the 35th minute of the match. Mangona's Cristiano Soares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Óscar Leão in the 36th minute of play. António Cabral fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cláudio Guarda having to interfere. Cláudio Guarda showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lúcio Lopes in the 47th minute of the match. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Lúcio Lopes got free with Cláudio Guarda in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 55th play minute Lúcio Lopes came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Cláudio Guarda. 2-2. Alares FC's Cláudio Guarda proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save Alares FC from getting a goal against them. Cristiano Soares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Óscar Leão in the 62nd minute of play. 63 minutes into the match, Alares FC's Basílio Fonseca sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Cristiano Soares narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Óscar Leão in the 67th minute of play forced Mangona's goalkeeper Cristiano Soares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rafael Miranda kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. Cristiano Soares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Óscar Leão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Basílio Fonseca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristiano Soares having to interfere. Cristiano Soares stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Óscar Leão's shot from short distance in the 78th minute. The audience was convinced that Óscar Leão's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Cristiano Soares was relentless in the 80th minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in Mangona's zone, Duarte Reis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cristiano Soares came out of the goal and Duarte Reis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Rui Brás fell near the penalty area in the 84th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mangona's protests and gave Rui Brás a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Mangona getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Rui Brás hit a great ball. Óscar Leão recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 90 played minutes Mangona got a freekick which was hit by Afonso Marques. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
