Basílio Amaro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulo Brás, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. If Paulo Brás had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 9th minute Afonso Maia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Amílcar Cruz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Paulo Brás had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 15th minute of the match Artur Paiva shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Amílcar Cruz showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 16 minutes into the match, Moaz's goalkeeper Amílcar Cruz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Vicente Queirós. The crowd rose to their feet as SC Magueijinha's Afonso Maia slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Amílcar Cruz. That made the score 1-0 after 19 minutes of play. Amílcar Cruz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Afonso Maia in the 26th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 27 minutes, Paulo Brás put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Basílio Amaro. Basílio Amaro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cláudio Valente, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Cláudio Valente had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 35 minutes, Paulo Brás mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Moaz and the SC Magueijinha players grew even worse after the yellow card. Paulo Brás kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. Paulo Brás blasted a shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Basílio Amaro having to make a save. In the 42nd minute, Bento Morais left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Moaz fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Afonso Maia was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd match minute, Moaz was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cláudio Valente to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Afonso Maia in the 59th minute of play forced Moaz's goalkeeper Amílcar Cruz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 65 minutes into the match, Afonso Maia notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of Moaz's Amílcar Cruz. Amílcar Cruz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 73rd minute, Armindo Araújo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Vicente Queirós came up free with the goalie in the 80th minute, the SC Magueijinha fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vicente Queirós couldn't finish the play. After 85 played minutes Moaz got a freekick which was hit by André Esteves. In the 86th minute of the match Artur Paiva sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Amílcar Cruz skillfully saved the ball. Vicente Queirós might have been able to make a better finish in the 89th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Amílcar Cruz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Vicente Queirós ran back to his position shaking his head. If Afonso Maia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Afonso Maia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Amílcar Cruz having to interfere.
