The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. José Pinho in the 5thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Ricardo Resende, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. José Pinho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 9th minute of the match, but Ricardo Resende made a huge save. After having played for 12 minutes, José Pinho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Formigais's supporters crossed their fingers, but José Pinho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 15th minute Afonso Borges shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but João Rocha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Ricardo Domingues had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 18th minute, Afonso Borges hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 20th minute Bernardo Mota shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ricardo Resende saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sandro Borges hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Formigais's Domingos Leiria couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 25th minute. Armindo Amaro's late challenge caught a Nasce FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Armindo Amaro helped the player get up and apologised. In the 61st minute, Armindo Amaro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Formigais's João Rocha proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 65th minute of the match, managed to save Formigais from getting a goal against them.
