Hélder Correia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Xavier Fonseca, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 24 minutes into the game, Rui Guarda was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Malhadais's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SC Amonde the free kick. Rui Guarda hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Afonso Sousa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Mário Torres came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the SC Amonde fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mário Torres couldn't finish the play. If Afonso Sousa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 40 minutes, Xavier Fonseca managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Malhadais's supporters crossed their fingers, but Xavier Fonseca was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Eusébio Baptista didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mário Torres went, in the 47th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Henrique Queirós to make the kick off. Afonso Sousa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hélder Correia having to interfere. Mário Torres could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 58th minute of the match, but Eusébio Baptista made a huge save. Xavier Fonseca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Hélder Correia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. SC Amonde were furious when Inácio Miranda was red carded, 67 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The SC Amonde fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hélder Correia should have stopped the shot. SC Amonde's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
