Diamantino Tavares recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 10th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When António Henriques came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the Balaus fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that António Henriques couldn't finish the play. António Henriques fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Castro having to interfere. Artur Neves stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Diamantino Tavares's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. Diamantino Tavares scored 0-1 in the 29th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Artur Neves, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of SC Castanheira booed when Balaus was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. António Henriques didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mário Silva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Francisco Veiga charged in rather forcefully in the 37th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Francisco Veiga the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Francisco Veiga hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. Mário Silva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rui Nogueira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Luís Castro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If António Henriques had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After the first half SC Castanheira were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell António Henriques to make the kick off. SC Castanheira's Luís Castro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rui Nogueira in the 52nd minute of play. The supporters of Balaus booed when SC Castanheira was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Manuel Amaro didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 56th minute Rui Nogueira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luís Castro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that António Henriques's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Luís Castro was relentless in the 57th minute of the game. In the 64th minute, Mário Silva fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Diamantino Tavares in the 66th minute of play forced Balaus's goalkeeper Artur Neves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Artur Neves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Diamantino Tavares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mário Silva could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 74th minute of the match, but Artur Neves made a huge save. When the match had gone on for 75 minutes, Diamantino Tavares took a quick shot and it went in 0-2 without a chance for Artur Neves to make any attempt to save it. SC Castanheira's Luís Castro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by António Henriques in the 85th minute of play. Mário Silva could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 90th minute of the match, but Artur Neves made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by António Henriques in the 91st minute of play forced SC Castanheira's goalkeeper Luís Castro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Pedro Coelho came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Balaus fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pedro Coelho couldn't finish the play. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched SC Castanheira eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
