The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Nuno Pedroso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joaquim Maia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match had gone on for 15 minutes, Miguel Vale put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Pedro Vieira. Nuno Pedroso made a fantastic save in the 19th minute, when Adolfo Trindade sent off a good shot on target. After having played for 21 minutes, Adolfo Trindade managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mestras's supporters crossed their fingers, but Adolfo Trindade was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Basílio Barros blasted a shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Pedro Vieira having to make a save. After a defensive mix-up in Mestras's zone, Miguel Vale stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pedro Vieira came out of the goal and Miguel Vale tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a defensive mix-up in Alfornelos FC's zone, Joaquim Maia stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. When Basílio Barros, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 38 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Pedro Vieira was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Pedro Faria hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. In the 48th minute of the match Gustavo Pinho shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Pedro Vieira showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Júlio Figueiredo fell near the penalty area in the 55th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mestras's protests and gave Júlio Figueiredo a yellow card for diving instead. Basílio Barros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Pedro Vieira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 62 minutes had been played when some careless play by Mestras's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Gustavo Pinho was slow to take the kick. During this time Alfornelos FC's players had a chance to rest. If Joaquim Maia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Miguel Vale received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Pedro Vieira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Joaquim Maia might have been able to make a better finish in the 87th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nuno Pedroso. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Joaquim Maia ran back to his position shaking his head. Nuno Pedroso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joaquim Maia in the 89th minute of play. Basílio Barros struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. Pedro Vieira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Alfornelos FC. Mestras's Pedro Vieira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Miguel Vale in the 95th minute of play. After 95 minutes, Sebastião Simões mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mestras and the Alfornelos FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Sebastião Simões kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match. For all the effort they put into the match, the Alfornelos FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Mestras.
