Paulo Aleixo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquim Andrade having to interfere. In the 14th minute Amílcar Leite shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nuno Trindade saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nuno Trindade stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Joaquim Sousa's shot from short distance in the 18th minute. Nuno Trindade took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joaquim Sousa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Joaquim Andrade showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rui Ferro, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Paulo Baptista kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. Matanca FC's Joaquim Sousa got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Basílio Brito hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. Joaquim Andrade made a fantastic save in the 29th minute, when Eduardo Matos sent off a good shot on target. In the 31st minute, Eduardo Matos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 37 minutes into the match, Vidigal FC's goal looked a bit too open when Amílcar Leite came free, but Nuno Trindade reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rui Ferro's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 42ndth minute, Joaquim Andrade skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Vidigal FC's Nuno Trindade played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joaquim Sousa in the 46th minute of play. Amílcar Leite recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 48th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When Paulo Baptista fell near the penalty area in the 53rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vidigal FC's protests and gave Paulo Baptista a yellow card for diving instead. Basílio Brito shot from long distance in the 54th minute, but Nuno Trindade was prepared and stopped the ball at the left post. The supporters of Matanca FC booed when Vidigal FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paulo Aleixo didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Amílcar Leite had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vidigal FC's Rui Ferro got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rui Ferro in the 75th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Joaquim Andrade saved Matanca FC from getting behind. Amílcar Leite fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nuno Trindade having to interfere. After 82 minutes, Rui Queirós mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Matanca FC and the Vidigal FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Matanca FC getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Rui Queirós hit a great ball. 83 minutes in the game, Eduardo Matos dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Amílcar Leite fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nuno Trindade having to interfere. Matanca FC's Joaquim Andrade played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eduardo Matos in the 93rd minute of play. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
