Albertino Leite took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 5th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Rui Carvalho. Mirao's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Paulo Esteves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vicente Aleixo in the 6th minute of play. Vicente Aleixo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Paulo Esteves having to make a save. Vicente Aleixo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Paulo Esteves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 17th play minutes Cláudio Trindade shot 1-0, a short shot which went by Rui Carvalho and just under the crossbar into goal. Rui Carvalho acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 20th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Vasco Cunha. Rui Carvalho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paulo Amaral in the 22nd minute of the match. Paulo Esteves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristóvão Melo, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. A collision led to SC Areoza getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Simão Pires hit a great ball. In the 33rd minute Cristóvão Melo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paulo Esteves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mirao's Rui Carvalho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulo Amaral in the 35th minute of play. In the 36th minute, Paulo Amaral fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Cláudio Trindade struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Rui Carvalho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Areoza. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gil Domingues during the 37th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Paulo Amaral fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rui Carvalho having to interfere. In the 47th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mirao's goalkeeper Rui Carvalho, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Paulo Amaral to strike the kick off in the second half. Paulo Amaral fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rui Carvalho having to interfere. Rui Carvalho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulo Amaral, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. When Joaquim Teixeira fell near the penalty area in the 60th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mirao's protests and gave Joaquim Teixeira a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of SC Areoza booed when Mirao was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joaquim Teixeira didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cláudio Trindade fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rui Carvalho having to interfere. Paulo Esteves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vicente Aleixo in the 68th minute of the match. Paulo Amaral sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Mirao's Cândido Garcia got a free kick in the 74th minute. Rui Carvalho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cláudio Trindade in the 75th minute of play. When Cristóvão Melo came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the Mirao fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristóvão Melo couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Vicente Aleixo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Paulo Esteves was relentless in the 79th minute of the game. Abel Amorim kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. SC Areoza's defense didn't have a chance, in the 89th minute, when Vicente Aleixo scored to the left of an out of position Paulo Esteves, making the score, 1-1. Rui Carvalho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cláudio Trindade, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. The Mirao players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented SC Areoza from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
