Nuno Santarém started the match with the kick off. Miguel Piress short, quick shot in the 7thth minute got Óscar Neto to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The supporters of SC Varejeira booed when Ovoa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joaquim Castro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gaspar Brás blasted a shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ricardo Gaspar having to make a save. A collision led to Ovoa getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Lourenço Marques hit a great ball. In the 18th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ovoa's goalkeeper Ricardo Gaspar, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Óscar Neto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nuno Santarém in the 21st minute of the match. 23 minutes into the match, SC Varejeira's goal looked a bit too open when Nuno Santarém came free, but Óscar Neto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nuno Assunção fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ricardo Gaspar having to interfere. Gaspar Carvalho hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. SC Varejeira's Óscar Neto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nuno Santarém in the 30th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by João Brás during the 35th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Ovoa booed when SC Varejeira was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. João Brás didn't get a good kick on the ball. 39 minutes in the game, Nuno Santarém fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Óscar Neto having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Miguel Pires got free with Óscar Neto in the 41st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Joaquim Castro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ovoa's supporters rose to their feet, but Joaquim Castro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Óscar Neto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Óscar Neto didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Miguel Pires went, in the 47th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The long shot by Gaspar Simões in the 54th minute really tested Ricardo Gaspar's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Humberto Carvalho kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. In the 56thth minute of the game Nuno Assunção who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ovoa's Ricardo Gaspar was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Gaspar Brás sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 62nd minute, Lourenço Marques hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Gaspar Brás had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Rogério Leiria fell near the penalty area in the 69th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Varejeira's protests and gave Rogério Leiria a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to SC Varejeira getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Rogério Leiria hit a great ball. 73 minutes into the match, SC Varejeira's goal looked a bit too open when Nuno Santarém came free, but Óscar Neto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gaspar Simões thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Óscar Neto, a very annoying self made goal in the 81st minute which led to 3-0. Ricardo Gaspar made a fantastic save in the 86th minute, when João Brás sent off a good shot on target. When Nuno Assunção came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the SC Varejeira fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nuno Assunção couldn't finish the play. 91 minutes into the match, Ovoa's goal looked a bit too open when Nuno Assunção came free, but Ricardo Gaspar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nuno Assunção in the 95th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ricardo Gaspar prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, Ovoa's Joaquim Castro got a free kick in the 96th minute. With a little luck, Ovoa's Ricardo Gaspar got control of the ball when Gaspar Brás tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ovoa were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of SC Varejeira for a fine match.
