Afonso Resende started the match with the kick off. SC Bandeiras's Abel Tavares proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 4th minute of the match, managed to save SC Bandeiras from getting a goal against them. 8 minutes into the match, Madalena FC's goal looked a bit too open when Afonso Resende came free, but José Freitas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Tomás Paiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tomás Paiva's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Abel Tavares read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. Gaspar Figueiredo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Freitas having to interfere. If Afonso Gomes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tomás Paiva fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Abel Tavares having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Afonso Gomes got free with Abel Tavares in the 23rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gaspar Figueiredo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Freitas having to interfere. If Gaspar Figueiredo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tomás Paiva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 38th minute, Madalena FC's Tomás Paiva ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Abel Tavares. Abel Tavares yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Gustavo Pacheco's late challenge caught a SC Bandeiras's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gustavo Pacheco helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of SC Bandeiras booed when Madalena FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gustavo Pacheco didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 45th minute SC Bandeiras were awarded a corner. Tiago Almeida went to the cornerflag to take it. Gaspar Figueiredo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Freitas having to interfere. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tomás Paiva stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the game, Madalena FC's Afonso Gomes nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Abel Tavares made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. José Freitas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Afonso Resende in the 60th minute of play. Gaspar Figueiredo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. José Freitas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Afonso Resende came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the SC Bandeiras fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Afonso Resende couldn't finish the play. 66 minutes in the game, Gaspar Figueiredo fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without José Freitas having to interfere. José Freitas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Afonso Resende, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Albertino Amaral's late challenge caught a SC Bandeiras's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Albertino Amaral helped the player get up and apologised. When Gustavo Pacheco was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 75 minutes had been played. Gustavo Pacheco hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Afonso Gomes in the 83rd minute of play forced SC Bandeiras's goalkeeper Abel Tavares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Gaspar Figueiredo managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Bandeiras's supporters rose to their feet, but Gaspar Figueiredo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. José Freitas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 91 minutes into the match, Madalena FC's goal looked a bit too open when Gaspar Figueiredo came free, but José Freitas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Abel Tavares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Afonso Gomes in the 97th minute of the match. Madalena FC's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
