After 17 minutes of play, Pocos's Jorge Ribeiro made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. In the 20th minute Carlos Ramos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristóvão Ribeiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Duarte Cruz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jorge Ribeiro in the 22nd minute of play. Jorge Ribeiro charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jorge Ribeiro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Duarte Cruz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jorge Ribeiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Pocos's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SC Vilela the free kick. A collision led to Pocos getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Manuel Martins hit a great ball. SC Vilela's Daniel Tavares got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The SC Vilela players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Pocos were winning 0-2.

Pocos's supporters rose to their feet, but Vítor Fonseca was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Duarte Cruz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Pocos walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
